website... more like lamesite.

im in a webdesign class this semester. and it might as well be called website torture chamber class.

ok, a little dramatic. but seriously. its alot less design as much as it is long, complicated, confusing codes. so hard. just tell me if this means anything to you:

#container{
width: 610px;
height: 275px;
background: #FFFFFF;
margin-top: 85px;
margin-right: 0px;
margin-bottom: 330px;
margin-left: 170px;
text-align: left;
overflow:auto;
position: fixed;

no? me either. well believe it or not, inputting all of this kind of stuff over and over again BY HAND is how you get a website. our first assignment was to choose an artist and create a website for them. i chose paul rand, this completely awesome and totally adorable graphic designer. we had to design the site first then start the coding process. it took forrrreverrrr and i still have no idea how to really do it. after designing my website, i realized it'd be much harder than i thought. getting stuff ready for the web is a whole other ball game. below are the original designs for the site:

(home)

(bio)

(theory)

(works)

i used alot of his designs as inspiration for my site designs.

and HERE is the actual website i had to code from scratch and turn in: dana.ucc.nau.edu/slb347/Project_1/

its kinda cool that its actually hosted on the web. a site i made from scratch. but as you can see, it looks nothing like my original designs. im still learning and figuring out how to work the codes to make it look like that on the web. our next project is to pick a local business in flagstaff with a not so great website and redesign it. more to come on that project! im liking where im headed with it. so stay tuned!

by the way... icantbelieveitsalreadythursday!
