two people fell in love

ive never been a big country music fan.

i even went through a phase when i said i liked everything but country music.

sure i'd occasionally enjoy a good dixie chicks girl anthem or a shania twain classic here and there, but it wasnt until a few months ago when i started noticing some things about country music that other genres just do not offer. true story telling. very few country songs dont include some sort of story about real life events and trials that average people deal with on a daily basis. when you listen to a country song, you never have to sit there and interpret and figure out what the artist is trying to say, because they say it. in english, in sometimes very few words. there is very little poetic language and lyrical fluff to make something seem more interesting than it really is. the lyrics are just simple, raw, and real. now im not bashing all OTHER genres or anything because (judging from my playlist at the bottom) i am a fan of those too. i am simply stating my own personal discovery of country music and its ability to tell a simple, real life story. do i think its the BEST music and it always has good rhythm? no, course not. : ) but i have a new appreciation and, dare i say it, love(?&*!) for country music.

changing gears... today i randomly found this image from a family thanksgiving dinner a couple of years ago. its my GREAT grandparents, robert & vivian. who i must tell you are still alive, married, in love, and living in their own home in prescott. (i sent the original digital image through my antique photo editing process and WA LA! instantly what you see below)

so anyways, back to country music. i cant even tell you how i came across this music video of the brad paisley song "two people fell in love". i really dont remember how or why i clicked on the youtube link, i think i was intrigued by the name? anyway, i started watching it today and was INSTANTLY reminded of this picture that i had just worked on earlier this morning. so crazy how that happened. the lyrics that really stood out to me where these:

Right now at a picnic shelter down by canyon creek
You'll find potato salad, hot dogs and baked beans
The whole Wilson family's lined up filling there paper plates
They drove or flown in here from 15 different states
Stanley Wilson said that sixty years ago he knew
That miss emma tucker was the one
Now five generations get together every June
And all because two people fell in love

these lyrics so easily reminded me of my own family and when we all get together. ive never stopped to think about what my grandparents and even my own parents are sitting back and thinking when they see us all come together as a family. when i heard this song and when i look at the above picture of my sweet sweet grandparents, im just overwhelmed with thankfulness that those two people fell in love. because they did WAY way WAAYY back when (ha sorry grandma and grandpa, you're really old, not that you're reading this or anything) i now have this huge Godly, loving, supportive, crazy family who will always stand by me. im so glad they're all on my team, i wouldnt have it any other way, really. i come from two wonderful parents who raised me under the direction and love of Jesus and im blessed with two sisters who i never stop learning from, and THAT is all because two people fell in love. this song also just reminds me of how lucky i am when i get to document the results of when two people fall in love. wether it be a new mom & dad holding their precious baby or an engaged couple ready to begin their new adventure as husband and wife, its all because THEY are in love. and i just love that.

so without further ado, here is the (country music?!) video that just made my day:
tell me this... why are YOU glad two people fell in love?

hmmm, somethin to think about : )
