katie & mike... engaged!

its a fun type of love, katie & mike. i met katie last year in a bible study i was a part of. i remember being so blown away by her huge heart and the way she would just listen to me and be so relatable to what i was talking about. her fun and free spirited personality made it so easy to connect with her and we shared so many laughs in that bible study. also in the bible study with us were THREE engaged gals, katie would always joke with us about how she'd never get be the one getting married and she'd just keep adding to her bridesmaid dress collection. and of course, later that year mike moved up to flagstaff where the two met and hit it off from the start. katie & mike are absolutely 100% perfect for eachother. it is obvious that they have such a fun friendship where their love stems from. they are both so fun and crazy and up for anything! i remember katie voicing a few times last year that she could never imagine what her husband would be like because he'd have to be able to handle her crazy self. and i can honestly say that katie has found someone just as crazy as her in all the right ways. i like the way she put it in a recent email... "i have truly found the 'male me' and there is no doubt about that!" its been SO fun for me watching miss "not getting married anytime soon" katie meet and fall madly in love with the fun loving and genuine man that God has called her to since before she was born.

the three of us made a day out of our photo session and decided to head down to jerome, az for a change of scenery. i'd never been to jerome and i can now say that IM OBSESSED with this town. reason #4756 why i am obsessed with arizona: jerome. everything was SO colorful and run down and genuinely old. and as mike said on the way home, it looks like people just randomly decide to paint their property all sorts of colors. and its completely awesome. the whole town is on this HUGE hill that just gets steeper and steeper and all of the buildings are stacked. its like arizona's san francisco. i couldn't have chosen a better location for katie & mike's engagement photos! 

before we left town for jerome, we took a few photos at the very spot where mike proposed to katie. remember that huge snow storm we had a week ago? well katie & mike went out like two crazies to cross country ski and thats when mike popped the question! right here!! that view, the snow, the beauty... yes this is a true story.

i thought the skis would be a fun prop : )



they love these wisconsin and indiana sweatshirts they found at thrift stores and these last two photos just crack me up. and look at that view from jerome!


i had such a good time road tripping to jerome with these guys! they made the whole day so much fun and it never felt like i was working to get these shots. i loved watching katie & mike interact and have SO much fun together and the cool thing is, they get to have this much fun for the rest of their lives! they are just the best and im so glad i got to photograph that! they're getting married in may and who's excited?! ME.
