slice of life... dance!

(if you dont read this post at least scroll to the video and watch from 2:10 and on)

yesterday my roommate randi comes in and says "you HAVE to watch this video of jason derulo dancing!!". if there's one thing ive taken away from living with randi its a greater love for dance, hip hop dance to be exact. ive always loved movement, and the way people turn it into a true art form. but just something about hip hop dance, holding your belt buckle or the tip of your hat and sliding your feet around was never what i seemed to enjoy watching. sure i enjoyed the occasional save the last dance or step up final dance scenes (which you should definitely watch after this one), but i never cared to pursue watching it outside of the movies. like i said, UNTIL i started living with randall. and when i have no choice but to watch videos like this one when she throws them at me, and i end up loving them.

so back to this particular video... when it hits the 2:10 minute mark a dance sequence begins that struck the PERFECT chord within my soul. its an incredible but subtle sequence of movements that seriously (not kidding) inspired me. i really have no idea why i am so obsessed with his footwork and dancing here but like i said, for some reason it just hit the spot. he has an obvious gift for feeling the music in more than just his head, it translates to the way he moves, specifically his feet. and i cant get enough of it. im not exaggerating when i tell you that ive probably watched the video 15-20 times in the past day. i would love nothing more than for you to turn off the music at the bottom of my blog, turn UP your volume, make this video full screen, and watch the dancing. no need to watch the full video if you dont want to, but the dancing that lasts from minute 2:10 to the end is WORTH IT.

(dont forget to scroll down and turn off my music!)
dancing is another form of expression and art that God has blessed people with and videos like this remind me of that as strange as it may be. NOTHING God created was an accident, He loves dance and He loves movement and the expression of who we as His children are. He created us capable of exploring creative movement, some just more than others. like jason derulo for example.

now PLEASE understand that none of this means i am now pursuing dance or trying to be the new jason derulo, because i would roll if any of you even began to picture me doing this. i will just stick to appreciating their talent and dancing in the car and let the pros do their thing : )
