- to highlight the fact that this session was FULL of props. vintage, antique, funky, awesome props.
- to give pilar and kevin some serious props for being the best subjects
i think it was about 3 weeks after their last photo shoot that we did when pilar started offering she and kevins modeling services for another. a while back i mentioned to pilar that there was this wall near my house that i wanted to shoot at. it didnt take long for me to decide that i wanted those two to show off the wall. yesterday evenings photo shoot ended up being the opposite. they WORKED that wall. in preparation for the session, pilar and i spent much time discussing our different ideas and what feel we wanted the photos to have. one thing that we both agreed on was the use of props. we wanted to play off of the vintagey retro-ness (?) of the wall... so she and kevin came up with tons of stuff to incorporate into the photos, to tell a story. i knew it would be a success when i pulled into the parking lot and saw k and p waiting in the truck with two old school bikes loaded in back. from there, the stuff just got better and better.
prop #2: antique cooler with vintage coke bottles inside!
sharin a coke... adore.
this man walked by and asked if we were shooting for a coke commercial... we replied with "yes. yes we are."
prop #3: large frame!
prop #4: bubble gum... a must.
prop #5: vintage books... plus a classic batman read. (which kevin was clearly very into)
prop #6: old baseball stuff... with another appearance of pilars HOT shoes.
the way i described this pose to kevin was like it was as if he was flirting with her. i told him to show us his best game. he proceeded to tell pilar all about the "awesome game he just had" and asked her if she "came to the games often"... clearly these lines were workin for her.
i love the stories these photos tell. i love even more how i can always count on pilar and kevin to pitch in towards the creativity and uniqueness of life. or more specifically, my photography. i know very few people who would go to THESE lengths to achieve an atmosphere for a session. and i love that about them. such good company they are, i look forward to experiencing more of life with them. and i can promise you this isnt the last time they will be making an appearance on the blog. thanks to mel and jamie for coming along and assisting me, even when they didnt sign up to : )
oh! i almost forgot! pilar and kevin reeaallyyy took it up a notch when they took out extra cokes for each of us to enjoy! i dont know why but coke alwaayss tastes 10x better when its coming out of a glass bottle.
cheering a successful session!
thanks to all.
