a fun first

my good friend melissa is tying the knot this summer! she and her fiance kris are planning, from what ive heard, an awesome wedding to be held in august up in flagstaff. i was absolutely thrilled when mel asked if i would design the invitations for the big day! duh. mel and i met up countless times to discuss details of the invitations as well as for the big day, and let me tell ya... these invites are only a small sample of the fun to come at this wedding. designing a wedding invitation was quite a first for me and definitely caused me think outside the box but the experience was well worth it. when i got home and saw that they had finally arrived in the mail, my stomach kinda fell as i walked towards the envelope on the kitchen counter. sounds dramatic but THERE IT WAS! something i had worked so hard on that i had not seen put together yet. usually with design projects, either for clients or school, i can visualize the printed outcome of whatever it may be. while that is still the case for a wedding invitation, it has a different impact when it arrives in the mail not only printed but assembled and packaged as well. completely done, all of the bits and pieces i'd worked on individually are now together. but anyways, i was happy with the outcome and even more happy with the experience i received throughout this design process. i really loved creating a completely custom and personalized invitation to introduce such a big and happy day for mel and kris. i am 100% honored and appreciative that they trusted me with such a large and important task and i am grateful that i could be a part of their wedding in this way. ok ok, now for the good stuff. the actual invite! here it is friends:

the sleeves are trifold with one pocket on the right hand side

the main insert of the invitation with all the blah blah "this girls marrying that guy" on it... im told sunflowers will be making several appearances on the day of the wedding : )

the rsvp/random info card... my favorite. not sure why yet.

directions card (front)

directions card (back) which is a map complete with cactus and mountain symbols indicating the travel route from phoenix to flagstaff.

so there it is... formally announcing the upcoming wedding of melissa and kristopher!! and i couldnt be more thrilled. august 8th is sure to be one big parrrrtaaayyy up in flagstaff. im so grateful to mel and kris for giving me this opportunity. love them, love their love, love their wedding already.

did everyone have a good weekend? hope so.
